Eigelstein

Today’s Eigelstein city gate from the later 13th century. One of the last big three medieval city gates that still are around.

Machabean Monastery

The Maccabean Monastery in the 16th century. The monastery church here was later rebuilt because a fire destroyed the first church in 1462. The monastery was dissolved at the end of the 18th century and torn down in 1808.

Medieval City Wall

One of the last big chunks of the medieval city wall of Cologne can be found at Sachsenring in the southwest corner of the Old Town.

Bishop’s Palace

Drawing from 17th century. Sadly I couldn’t find a better version.

Alter Markt

Even knight tournaments took place at Cologne’s buys city center: the Alter Markt (Old Market)

It’s always raining when I try to take pictures of Cologne. The busy character of this square is now gone since the middle of the 20th century. Except at Cologne Carnival.
